Tennant, Larry Fred Quentin

November 17, 1947 - July 20, 2024

*********************

Larry passed away in Kingman, AZ, just short of his 79th birthday, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Larry was born in San Diego, CA to Quentin Earl and Gladys Delight Tennant.  He grew up in Escondido where he was active in Boys Club.  He drove a tow truck for Al’s Towing and ambulance for Superior Ambulance Company.  He moved to Oregon to join his friend, Val Adamson, when Val started Superior Ambulance in Sheridan.  Larry was a reserve police officer also during this time for Willamina Police Department and Sheridan Police Department.  He ran Superior Ambulance for several years before selling the business.

Larry married Kelli Clark in 1976.

Larry enrolled in the Funeral Service Program at Mt. Hood Community College.  He commuted daily from Sheridan to Gresham for 2 years to complete this program.  He served his apprenticeship at Adamson’s Funeral Home in Sheridan under Maurice Adamson.  His profession led him to several funeral homes in Oregon:  Azalea Chapel in Brookings, Burns Mortuary in Pendleton, and Attrell’s Funeral Home in Newberg.

Larry was involved in many service organizations.  He served on the Fire Board for Sheridan Fire Department.  He was a member of Kiwanis, serving as Lieutenant Governor for 2 different clubs.  He was also active in the Newberg Rotary International Early-Bird Club.

After retiring, Larry and Kelli moved to Arizona to help take care of his dad.  Larry enjoyed cruises and had been on several.  He also enjoyed visiting his daughter in Hawaii, and relaxing at the Oregon Coast.

Larry loved to laugh and have a good time.  Larry loved spending time with his grandsons, (who called him Buddy), going on “boys' vacation, no girls allowed” adventures.  These adventures included haircuts in Salem at the “Man’s Shop”, where girls had to wait in the car (Buddy’s rules).  He taught them how to mow the lawn at the cemetery, picking up flowers so they wouldn’t get run over.  The boys have a love of the water from their Buddy.  He loved his family.  He will be missed by many.

Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kelli; daughters Jennifer (Iowa), Stephanie (Hawaii) and Carrie (Arizona); 3 grandsons, Chandler, Dylan and Thomas; granddaughter, Harper; great-grandson Kieren; and sister-in-law Mary Clark (Connecticut).

Funeral service will be Friday, September 27, 2024, 1:00 pm, at Macy and Son Funeral Home in McMinnville, with a reception to follow.  Interment will be in Green Crest Memorial Park in Sheridan.
