Patricia, mother of five and grandmother of five, passed away on Wednesday, May 18th, just seven months after her husband Paul. They were long time residents of Sheridan, Oregon. All five of their children graduated from Sheridan High School in the 80’s.
They met on a blind date, in 1963, thanks to their respective friends from the Grand Ronde Tribe. Paul and his friend had graduated from Willamina High School in 1960. Paul’s father ran the Agency Store in Grand Ronde. Patricia’s friend, who attended St. Mary’s Academy with her, was from Grand Ronde and was dating Paul’s friend. They double dated at a bowling alley in Portland. Paul and Patricia married the following year.
Patricia attended Our Lady of Sorrows, St Mary’s Academy, and graduated from Franklin Hight School in 1962. She took business courses and worked at Bell Telephone and Copeland Lumber, in Portland, before having five children in five years. When the youngest, twins, were in high school she became a postal clerk and worked in Willamina, Sheridan, and surrounding areas.
Patricia and Paul had been married for 57 years when he passed last October. They had moved often at the beginning of their life together in Oregon and Washington.
Patricia enjoyed volunteering at her church, Good Shepherd, in Sheridan. She was often there for spaghetti dinners, pie sales, rummage sales, yard work, and game nights. She loved children, especially babies. Her husband Paul, a quiet and intelligent man, will be remembered for his laughter and hard work caring for their large family.
Paul and Patricia are together again at Evergreen Memorial Park in McMinnville, Oregon.
A mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 27th, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
