Donald Eldon Pickar, known to his friends and family as "Butch," passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born on February 25, 1951, to Goldie Mendenhall and Harry Pickar in Hebo, Oregon, where he spent most of his childhood. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Hulett, Fred Hulett, and Duane Hulett, as well as his sisters Bev and Terry.
Butch attended Nestucca High School, where he worked at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. He also worked at Champion Plywood, (Maben) Walsh Trucking and also as a timber faller. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, and camping.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and had a great love for people.
In 2005, Butch married Mary Lou Borck. Together their blended family consisted of Butch and Mary Lou, Angela, Kari, Adam, Misty, James and Tracy.
He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy and happiness.
Butch's best friends since childhood were Dan Britton, and his brother-in-law Bob Murrow. He was a beloved member of his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Butch retired and spent his final years surrounded by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the West Valley Community Center, 266 SE Washington St., Willamina, OR 97396. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a pot luck meal and a time of fellowship with family and friends.
