December 17, 1937 - January 13, 2025

*********************************

Gary Lenhard was born and raised in Warrenton, OR. He proudly graduated as a Warrenton Warrior where he enjoyed playing basketball. He started his career at his family grocery store by cleaning the meat market for $.25 a day after school. He married BernaDean Hart who had also attended Warrenton High School.

He took the family business to the next level by working at West Bond Market in Astoria, eventually learning the meat-cutting meat business and built a meat market in the Lewis and Clark area. He enjoyed showing Appaloosa horses and was a member of the Clatsop County Sherrif’s Posse.

In 1987, he moved to Bend, OR. and purchased an Orange Julius franchise, which branched into several other mall businesses, including candy shops, pizza by the slice, a retail boutique, and an offsite car wash. After retiring, Gary and Bernie decided to purchase a pony ring and traveled the NW attending fairs and festivals. In 2007, they moved to Eastern ID, where Gary met many new friends and loved to trail ride in the wilderness.

After losing Bernie, Gary decided to move back to Oregon to be closer to family and grandchildren and located in Sheridan. He enjoyed having family around and was always cooking meat and vegetables. He loved his property and could always be seen driving his tracter, picking blackberries, tending to his cattle, or attending a local horse auction.

No matter where Gary went, he always befriended his neighbors and enjoyed keeping in touch with them as he moved on.

Gary is survived by daughters, Heidi Maley and Lana Lukinich, brother Jeff Lenhard, and sister Sherry Walters, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his 87 years will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 15, 2025, at West Valley Calvary Church 121 NE Yamhill St. in Sheridan. The service will be followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
