Russell Howard Pape

October 20, 1932 - July 3, 2022

Russell Howard Pape was born on October 20, 1932 in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Mable and Carl Pape.  Russell passed away July 3, 2022 at their home in Willamina, Oregon.  His wife Ruthie, daughter Joanna and grandson Ben and his girlfriend Crystal were at his side.

Growing up Russell farmed with his father and neighbors.  He also worked with his brother Jimmie raising worms for the fishermen that fished on the Straight River by their house. Then he gardened and was a great gardener and also raised flowers, beautiful zinnias.  People would stop and look at them.

In 1991 he married Ruthie and they moved together to Rapid City, South Dakota where they  lived with their two daughters Joanna and Ruth Ann and 2 grandsons Richard Ryan and Ben.  Then later, all but Ruth Ann moved to Oregon and made a home in Willamina where he grew corn, peas, tomatoes and potatoes.  He grew so much that he was able to give to family and friends and they ate for months on them.  He made a big bed for his daughter Joanna and grandson Ben.  Their daughter Ruth Ann lived here in McMinnville and our daughter Judy lived in Rapid City, South Dakota.  Our daughter Dona died.

He was an artist and liked drawing barns and giving pictures away.  Everyone loved them.

Russell passed away July 3, 2022 at their home in Willamina, Oregon.  His wife Ruthie, daughter Joanna and grandson Ben and his girlfriend Crystal were at his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dona, brother Jimmie and sisters Maxine, Dorothy and Esther, and nephew Scott.

He is survived by his wife Ruthie, daughters Joanna Jazek, Ruth Ann Jazek, Judy (Don) Sipes, sisters Lorna Peterson and Margaret Rimer. Grandsons Richard Jazek, Ben Jazek and Tim West. Granddaughters Rhadonda Quandt and Faith Paden. 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
