Rodney (Rod) passed away in his home in Grand Ronde, Oregon on July 3, 2023 following a short battle with cancer. Rod was surrounded by his wife, Glenda and their dogs, Maddie and Davie.
Rod was born on June 25, 1945 in Richmond, California to Guy Norman Rich and Dorothy Evelyn Rich (Gordon). Rod served from October 1964-October 1967 in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Midway during the Vietnam War. Rod went on to work as a cook at numerous restaurants throughout the PNW. Retiring from Spirit Mountain Casino. Rod loved being outdoors, going to the coast and mountains. He spent his spare time creating knives and woodworking, making bowls, boxes and cutting boards. Many of his family and friends have been given his creations as gifts.
Rod is survived by his four children Daniel Gordon Davis of Washington, Vicki Ann Wheeler of Washington, Dusty Gordon Rich of Dallas, and Christopher Norman Rich of Lebanon. His brother Gary Rich of Washington, his wife Glenda Rich of Grand Ronde and his dogs Maddie and Davie. And his stepchildren Dale Davis of Grand Ronde, Jennie Ludwig of Sheridan, and Nicholas Cook of Ohio and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family is planning to hold a Memorial Roast in Rod’s honor sometime in the near future. Details will be put on Facebook when plans have been arranged.
