Sararose Eltha Harris

September 25, 1926 - September 14, 2026

*********************************

Sararose was born on September 25, 1926 in Prairie City, Oregon to Sherman and Helen Alameda Davis. She was one of 6 children: Genevieve (Genny), Raema, Dorothea (stillborn), Sararose, Beverly and Sherman Mack.

Her family lived in Prairie City until the oldest daughter Susan graduated from high school.  Then they moved west to Independence, Oregon.  Sararose, and her oldest daughter Susan both got teaching degrees at O.C.E.

Sararose taught first grade at Willamina Elementary for 25 years. And during those 25 years she tutored students after school. Then she volunteered for ten more.

She married Robert (Bob) Franklin Harris on March 10, 1946 on her grandmother Roey’s front porch in Prairie City, Oregon.

She is survived by her 4 children: Susan Beth, Timothy Dean, Larry Duane and Nancy Lee.  And also 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Sararose had two life philosophies:

#1

GOD GAVE HIS SON

God gave His son to die for us

on Calvary long ago,

So that we might be saved from sin

And full salvation know.

And since He rose on Easter morn,

I know I too shall rise,

And dwell forever with the Lord

beyond the starry skies.

#2

Most important thing in life

is not to win over others

but to have taken part

not to have triumph over others

But to have struggled

successfully with the talents

we were blessed with

As the essential thing is not

to have conquered

But to have fought well

and honorably.

There will be a public memorial on Saturday, September 26th at 2 p.m. at the Willamina Christian Church, 200 SE Baker St., Willamina, OR 97396.  Sararose would have turned 100 on September 25th.  Please come celebrate with us.
