Mina Jean Freeman Hampton Maley was born July 31, 1932 in Sheridan, OR to James E. Freeman and Frances L. Neil Freeman. She was raised and attended school in Sheridan. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 17, 2020 at Dallas Retirement Village, at the age of 88.
Jean was known by many as Grandma Jean the local cake decorator. She also loved to go to the Casino weekly. She loved fishing and hunting with her kids and grandkids.
Jean was preceded in death by both her parents; her husbands Donald Ray Hampton and Robert Lee Maley; her brothers Robert, Dan, David and Jimmy and her sisters Lenore Curtis Goody and Carol Monahan.
Jean is survived by her only living sister Betty M. Blair, her children Sheryl Lynn (Clyde) Dawkins, James Donald (Sherry) Hampton and Steven Wayne Hampton. Grand children Dennis Dawkins, Wendy Lockwood, Stacy Fagin and Matthew Hampton. Great-grandkids Jazmin Hager, Hayden and Haley Dawkins, Logan and Brody Fagin. Several step children, step grandkids, step great-grandkids and niece and nephews. Jean was loved by many.
There will be a Graveside Memorial Service for Mina Jean Freeman Hampton Maley Friday, November 20, 2020 outside Willamina at the Buck Hollow Cemetery at 10:00 AM following a private family interment.
